About the artwork
Die Freiheit ist um die Ecke is one of Henning Christiansen's most famous slogans. The artist's mantra speaks to the very essence of his goal to continuously push the boundaries of his fluctuating artistic practice. There is a satisfaction in the eternally progression towards "freedom" without eve rounding the corner to meet it. Would one actually "arrive", it would be at best uninteresting. The value in freedom, creation or exploration is in the striving to achieve it, in the gesture that leads to the creation.
