About the artwork
The third of Monk's billboard book projects, this New York edition sees the artist pairing up with local designer Benjamin Critton to develop two posters cleverly folded to be included in the resulting book as well as decorating the streets of Brooklyn during NY Art Book Fair 2013. Flatly describing the conditions of their production, as in previous works by Monk, the posters name all the parties involved in the realization of the project and describe its exact unfolding. Highly intellectual, The Billboard Book Project makes art by describing the process of its creation, an ingenious commentary on the production and institutionalization of contemporary art.
