About the artwork
The aptly titled Vanish (Gold) pairs an unfinished curtain tassel, a golden broach, and realistically shaped heart with the outline of an antiquated figure performing a movement with his torso. Combining two distinct styles—one detailed and colorful, the other stylized and graphic—, Oursler here pairs disparate elements in collage-like fashion, creating connections that range from darkly humorous to joyfully absurd.
