About the artwork

10:30 AM has a temporal specificity that reflects Katz’s desire to paint “in the present tense.” With the linear forms of its trunks and its sporadic, light-infused composition, the work lies on the very threshold of abstraction. A recurring motif in his stylised landscape images, which he views as being more instinctive than descriptive.
