About the artwork
This beautiful print consists of four mirror images of a naked woman leaning across a railway track, the triangle her body makes echoing the receding tracks. Known for putting the female body—often her own—at the center of her art, Parallel Axis is typical for the work of Schneemann. The composition of the piece is masterfully handled, kaleidoscopic in nature and contrasting soft rounded forms with hard horizontal lines.
