About the artwork
The death last month of the internationally renowned Dresden born painter, Eberhard Havekost was met with huge sadness around the world. An artist of unsettling scenes of modernity, his depictions of the human body were saturated with a sense of abjection. It’s hard to know quite what’s going on with these four images entitled Kupfer. They appear to be water drenched palm parasols. Rain on your tropical holiday? Sounds about right, and fits in with Havekost’s endeavour to highlight the falsehood that lies in all our dreamed realities.
