About the artwork

A nod to his extremely lucrative balloon works, this slick, seductive color print by Koons depicts a scantily-dressed woman playing provocatively with inflatable toy animals. Set in the dour settings of what looks like a motel room, or a person's lounge, the scene is both debauched and ludicrous, but somehow typically Koons. No one else in the world could pull off this mixture of bravura, sexuality, and weirdness. Attacking the very notions of what has long been understood as acceptable, with Koons the art does the talking, the artist famously quipping, "Nothing can touch me now—I'm Jeff Koons and my art can defend me!"
