Ken Lum & Hubert Damisch
Ultimo Bagaglio

Ultimo Bagaglio appears to the viewer like a surgeon's kit of memories. Both a book and suitcase, the object contains a meditation on traveling and memory by Damisch, and a selection of objects suggested by Ken Lum, sourced in Europe and North America. In his text on the art of rhetoric, Roman writer Cicero once suggested that, in order to promote memory, points of an orated speech could be located around different objects in a room. In the hands of the artists, the difference between objects and writing is elided. The future of art history—and art—might be said to reside in this little box of treasures.
