Having opened in 2002, König Galerie quickly established itself as one of the leading lights of the Berlin art scene. Founded by Johann König the gallery represents 30 international, emerging and established artists. With a gallery space in a former industrial building, the gallery has also opened a second location in 2015 in a monumental former church. Focusing on interdisciplinary and space-based approaches in various media including video, sound, painting, performance, printmaking, and photography, the exhibitions are renowned for their perplexing, challenging and often eclectic positions and use of media. König Galerie represents among others Tatiana Trouvé, Alicia Kwade, Katharina Grosse, and Jorinde Voigt, and participates in international art fairs such as Art Basel, Frieze Art Fair, London, FIAC, Paris, and Art Basel Miami Beach.
