About the artwork
Faldbakken's lithographs of collapsed cardboard boxes perfectly illustrate the artist's predilection for low-cost, disposable materials. Notorious for incorporating garbage bags, pizza boxes, and other debris from contemporary life into his artworks, Faldbakken is drawn to the used and the discarded. His practice is destructive, tearing apart at the fabric of fine art and exposing the waste beneath. With its depictions of castoff boxes, tape either still attached or carelessly ripped off, the Box series displays the artist's anarchistic approach to art production and perception.
