About the artwork
Untitled Girlfriend (Jerry's Girl) is a portrait combining all 57 of Jerry Seinfeld's girlfriends appearing onscreen in the T.V. series Seinfeld. Often drawing on popular culture in search of new motifs, Prince's reproduction and amalgamation of multiple television characters in a single print is typical of his innovative art practice. This is not the first time Prince has let himself be inspired by the partners of protagonists, having completed a series entitled Girlfriends portraying bikers' girlfriends perched on their vehicles, the images themselves are taken from a specialist magazine.
