Established by Monika Sprüth and Philomene Magers in 1998, Sprüth Magers was founded through the merging of their respective Cologne-based galleries, the former focusing primarily on emerging female artists whilst the latter concentrated more on an older generation of artists including Donald Judd and Richard Artschwager. With spaces in both London and Berlin, Sprüth Magers is now one of the world's leading contemporary art galleries and represents the likes of Thomas Demand, Andreas Gursky, Cindy Sherman, and Rosemarie Trockel.
