About the artwork

Tacita Dean’s postcard from Madagascar depicts the natural phenomenon known as the green ray—when the last ray of sun passes over the horizon and turns green. Typical of her poetic meditations on the passing of time and fading light, this scene was captured by analogue recording, it being too “elusive for the digital world.”
