About the artwork

Photographic innovator, Thomas Ruff, has always been fascinated by astronomy and experiments with a variety of processes to help him capture different cosmic phenomenon. His delicate image of the solar eclipse was used in a reprint of Atlas zum Lehrbuch der kosmischen Physik, first published 1861 by Dr. Johann Müller.
