About the artwork
Delicate and solid at the same time, elusive yet concrete, these etchings were inspired by a series of paintings of the same name that the artist completed several years earlier. Best known for his lacquered works on wood and linen, Su replicates these textured surfaces in his printmaking practice, reproducing the cracks and rough sections of his paintings. The title of the series is apt, "intactness" implying wholeness with a suggestion of fragility as well as a certain tactile quality.
