About the artwork
Known for his playful reimagining of banal everyday objects on a grand sculptural scale, here Oldenburg takes the modest collar and tie and animates these in a quirky color lithograph. The collar seemingly rolls downhill whilst the brightly colored tie flaps cheerfully in the wind, clearly demonstrating the artist's knack for imbuing inanimate objects with a sense of the extraordinary.
