Biography of Ebru Özseçen
Ebru Özseçen (born 1971 in İzmir, Turkey) is a Turkish-born artist currently based in Munich. She has a background in architecture, design, and contemporary art. Consequentially, she employs a diverse range of artistic practices, including sculpture, photography, performance, and film installations, as well as drawings. Özseçen's work is concerned with exploring the psychological and sociological relationships between space and the body. Other prominent themes include issues of gender, individual and collective memory, and the opposition between public and private.
As an artist Ebru Özseçen has received global recognition and has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad, including The International Istanbul Biennial, İstanbul; São Paulo Biennial; Tate Modern, London; and Istanbul Modern. Additionally, she has been awarded multiple artist residencies, including the Amsterdam Rijksakademie; Vienna Medienwerkstatt; Helsinki Suomenlinna NIFCA (Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art); and Paris Récollets Institut.
