About the artwork
Restructured Diagrammed, 2007 is a large-scale installation work designed by the artist to purposefully divide the surrounding space. The specified wall is patterned in acrylic paint, using a 40 x 40 cm (16 x 16 in) stencil in one of 4 colors. The artist's interest in minimalism and conceptualism is notable in this architectural sculpture, as is Gillick's method of partitioning and dividing spaces in an attempt to limit the movements of his audience, in the hope that they question and reflect on the barriers they encounter on a daily basis.
