About the artwork
Liam Gillick's skateboard consists of natural wood and a silkscreened typographic text reading "Southbank Skatepark 1987. A perfectly good skatepark improved by the addition of an art collection…". Partially covered by a freeform line representing graffiti or perhaps scratches on asphalt, this pseudo-skateboard cheekily tiptoes the line between street object and fine art sculpture.
