Polígrafa Obra Gráfica has been publishing editions for well over 50 years, collaborating with a staggering number of leading contemporary artists to produce some of the finest prints worldwide. We at FAM are proud to call Polígrafa our partner and take this opportunity to introduce our readers to the extraordinary history of this renowned publisher of fine art prints and multiples.

First established in 1964 in Barcelona, Polígrafa's renowned workshop was opened in the 1970s, enabling artists to use traditional printing techniques including woodcut, etching, and lithography to realize their ideas and give them the space to experiment and innovate. Artists are invited to develop their plates, followed by a period of proof printing together with Polígrafa’s experts until the results are deemed "Bon à Tirer" ("ready to print"), at which point the signed and numbered edition is produced.

With a keen eye for talent, Polígrafa started working very early on with what were to become household names, including Joan Miró, Francis Bacon, Eduardo Chillida, Robert Motherwell, Max Ernst, and Helen Frankenthaler, amongst many others. Today, Polígrafa can count the likes of Tony Oursler, Vito Acconci, Eric Fischl, Nedko Solakov, and Wang Huaiqing to its outstanding roster of international artists. This highly renowned establishment is also known for its commitment to promoting Spanish artists abroad as well as featuring a strong Latin American contingent, notably Carlos Cruz-Diez and Fernando Bryce.

Polígrafa regularly participates in the biggest contemporary art fairs worldwide, including Art Basel, Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Basel Miami, and ARCO, amongst others. Polígrafa continues to produce exceptional editioned prints and multiples, maintaining the impressively high standards it set over half a century ago.
